EKOW ASMAH explains why attendance is low in the Ghana Premier League

Ace Sports Journalist Ekow Asmah has shared his thoughts on the growing concerns about the lack of attendance on match days in our league.

Ghanaians love their football and would always find time to support their teams. Years ago, it was common practice seeing football fans journey a day or two to match venues in order not to miss a league match. The same league that is been chastised today, once upon a time was a woman a man won’t trade anything for.

In sharp contrast, the standards is at it lowest end in this era. Match venues are gradually turning into cemeteries. In the search for solutions to this worrying trend. Ahotor F.M 92.3 spoke with Ace Sports Journalist Ekow Asmah.

Ekow believe the major problem is that our league lack Stars who can pull supporters to the stadium.

“At age 9 we use to save money upon seeing the fixtures and sometimes made our way to the stadium during free gates. There is no way you will sit home if a match is ongoing due to the joy at the stadium. Stars direct traffic”

In furtherance he indicated that in the past most of the clubs were not owned by the poor. These days club owners are quick to cash in a player because they don’t have money.

According to Ekow Asmah the lack of Stars and rich owners in our league are the major reasons for low attendance during match days.
