Record transfer from Graz: Kelvin Yeboah moves to Serie A.

Kelvin Yeboah leaves Bundesliga soccer team Sturm Graz after eleven months and flushes several million euros into the club’s coffers as a record sale in Graz. The U21 team striker from Italy is moving to the Italian first division club CFC Genoa for a rumored 6.5 million euros. This sum could increase as Sturm sports director Andreas Schicker reportedly had clauses anchored in the new contract of the attacker fighting for relegation in the future.

First, however, the Graz residents have to cede a substantial six-figure sum to Yeboah’s ex-club WSG Tirol. For their part, the Wattener had let the 21-year-old move to Styria in the winter transfer window of 2021 for a tenth of the current transfer fee – and a resale stake. For Sturm, Yeboah scored 20 goals in 45 games and prepared ten more, but was often ineffective in the European Cup.

The striker is advancing to – by far – the new record departure of Graz. The previous record sale was handled by Sturm when Yeboah was not even born. In 1999 Mario Haas left the club for around 3.1 million euros for Strasbourg. As a result of the Yeboah sale, a little less than five million euros should actually end up in the cash register for the time being.

The economic managing director Thomas Tebbich described the rather quick conclusion of the deal as a “feat of strength”, which gives the club more leeway even in times that are tight due to Corona. “We have numerous projects waiting to be implemented, and we will try to use the new possibilities to take the SK Sturm to the next level in several areas.”

“Of course we would have liked to see Kelvin in black and white for longer, but with this transfer, the positive outweighs all sides,” emphasized Schicker. “I am sure that he has a great future ahead of him and that he can fully take off in Serie A.” Yeboah will now try this under the guidance of the Ukrainian striker legend Andrij Shevchenko.
