Owusu Ansah pledges to fight for more game time

Kumasi Asante Kotoko midfielder Douglas Owusu Ansah has pledged to fight for a place in Maxwell Konadu’s setup when football finally resumes.

Douglas earned a promotion to the senior team after displaying some impressive performances with the junior side which delighted the then manager of the side Steven Polack.

The 17-year old midfielder’s development has not been as smooth as it was expected to be, with a spate of injuries hampering his insertion into the senior team.

Irrespective of the challenges he has faced, the midfielder even though concedes that beating the likes of Mudasiru, Senanu, Frimpong, and Justice Blay to a place in the starting lineup is a tough task but he believes that he’s capable of putting up a genuine challenge in the midfield position.

“Challenges are everywhere and football is no exception,” he says. “Of course, it is a big task for me because we are having quality midfielders and there is no need for me to rush as a youth player.” “However, am looking forward to grabbing the little time that would be offered me by the Coach; to grab the opportunity and stick in the team though I am learning a lot from the other players.”

Having finally recovered from a hamstring injury, he is confident that his qualities will be enough to persuade Coach Maxwell Konadu to grant him more playing time.

“I have recovered from my lingering injury and once football returns, I will give it a good fight. But I am not scared about the quality we possess and the intense competition that comes along with it. Each of the other places has his own qualities but I believe in my abilities as well.”
