‘Only 4 of them are quality’- Taylor delivers scathing verdict on Black Stars players

Ghanaian Football icon Charles Taylor has delivered a rough assessment of the Black Stars players following their shocking exit from the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.

Ghana suffered an embarrassing defeat to lowly Comoros to bow out shamefully from AFCON 2021, amassing just a point from a possible nine.

Fans have been enraged by the development with calls increasing for the dismissal of Head Coach Milovan Rajevac and the dissolution of the team.

Taylor who had an excellent career playing in the local league believes that most of the foreign-based players we invite to the team are over-pampered and lack the quality to represent the nation.

He opines that only 4 of the current Black Stars setup measure up to the required level to play for the team.

“All those who play abroad, only 4 of them are quality than those who play in the local league,” he told Kumasi-based Silver FM in an interview.

“Amartey, Kyereh, Partey and Fatawu Issahaku are the only quality players in the squad. These are the boys who should be kept and blended with some serious local players,” he added.

“Nobody hates anybody because I was a better player than all those playing now. Playing in a foreign league doesn’t make you better than those who play here.

“The local players are better than those who came to represent us at the AFCON. They will say that they are not matured. I don’t know, if they sell maturity at Makola, we should go and buy some for the players,” he concluded.
