Manchester United predicted lineup vs Brentford

Manchester United face a tough trip to Brentford on Wednesday as they look to turn their recent poor form around.

A draw and a defeat in their last two Premier League games has seen United slip to seventh in the table, but it is not just disappointing results that has fans worried.

The performances have been mightily underwhelming too and Ralf Rangnick may shake things up in midweek in order to get a response. Here is the starting XI he seems most likely to select…

David De Gea

David De Gea (CK) – Has been excellent at times this season, and will certainly feature in goal for the Red Devils once more.

Diogo Dalot (RB) – Has done a decent job deputising for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and may even retain his place once the usual first-choice returns from illness.

Raphael Varane (CB) – Yet to show his best form for United. Will no doubt have his hands full containing Ivan Toney.

Harry Maguire (CB) – Returned to the bench last time out and will more than likely be restored to the starting XI against the Bees.

Luke Shaw (LB) – Alex Telles was drafted in to the side with Shaw suspended against Villa. The England international is no longer a nailed-on starter but he should get the nod here for rotational reasons.

Fred (CM) – Visibly has the love of his new boss and, in fairness, has been pretty good since Rangnick’s arrival.

Scott McTominay (CM) –
Will line up alongside Fred to form United’s usual midfield duo.

Bruno Fernandes (AM) –
A Man Utd stalwart, Fernandes has missed only missed a handful of his side’s Premier League fixtures since arriving. Looked back to his best on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Mason Greenwood (RW) – With Marcus Rashford out of form and Edinson Cavani completing a full 90 minutes at the weekend, expect to see Greenwood given the nod.

Cristiano Ronaldo (ST) –
Back from injury and with a point to prove, it would be extremely unsurprising if he bagged the winner in a narrow victory.

Anthony Elanga (LW) – Did well against Villa last time out. His energy will be important if Rangnick’s system is to work.
