“I AM READY FOR THE BLACK METEORS” – JOSEPH KINGFUL

Bechem United center-back Joseph Kingful has expressed worry following his absence from the Black Meteors squad, who are currently playing in the AFCON U-23 championship in Morocco. The tournament also serves as a qualification for the Olympic Games, and Ghana is looking forward to qualifying for the first time in 20 years.

Ghana opened the tournament with a 3-2 victory over Congo and lost 5-1 to the host nation Morocco in their second game. A win against Guinea in our third game sends Ghana to the semi-finals of the competition, which increases our chances of qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

When asked about his feelings concerning his absence from the squad, he said, “I was very disappointed and worried when my name wasn’t included in the list because I am eligible. I am only 21 years old. However, I feel I didn’t do enough to merit a call-up. It’s their time now, and I believe when my time comes, I will be called.”

Joseph Kingful, who joined the Brong Ahafo-based club Bechem United in the 2021/22 season, has been an important figure in the club’s recent success. Since the departure of former defender Emmanuel Osei Kuffuor, Joseph has been very consistent in his performances, and many believe he deserves a call-up. Bechem United finished second in the just-ended Betpawa Ghana Premier League, only three points behind Medeama SC.
