GFA ready to welcome CAS ruling on match fixing

The players’ appeals against the judgement rendered by the GFA Appeals Committee on July 13, 2022 are upheld by the CAS Arbitral Award, which was delivered on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

The Arbitral Award states that the appeals of the 22 mentioned players, including Alex Aso and Richard Lamptey, were upheld, which led to the revocation of the GFA fines that had previously been imposed on them.

The players’ participation in the 2022–23 football season was consequently approved by the GFA after the CAS approved a temporary measure (STAY) that fully assisted the players in signing up for the clubs of their choice.

In addition, CAS ordered the GFA to pay CHF 300 apiece to the 21 players (1st Applicants) and CHF 3,000 to Richard Lamptey (2nd Applicants) to cover legal costs and other expenses.

The Arbitral Award rejects all additional claims or requests for relief made by the players, but the GFA complies entirely with the ruling in regard to the 22 players as a result.
