GFA fined $10,000 over pitch invasion

The confederation of African football has fined the Ghana football association a sum of $ 10,000 over pitch invasion during the 2021 afcon qualifiers game between the Ghana black stars and Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Cape Coast stadium.

The fine is in relation to an AFCON 2021 qualifiers game between the Ghana senior national team and South Africa senior national team on 14th November 2019 when a fan invaded the pitch just to take picture with Thomas Teye Partey.

The fan with the name Awal Suleman during the game invaded the pitch and took the security on that day through some sprinting lessons as he was a sprinter during his days at senior high school.

Awal Suleman was later called to order and was fined the sum of GH¢ 2,400 for uncalled for act by the Cape Coast circuit court.

This didn’t go down well with the mother body of African football as they have slapped the Ghana football association with a fine of $10,000.

“There is a need for lovers of our national teams to behave appropriately within the laws of game. This is really important because our actions have consequences for the GFA and the State at large.

“We will continue to educate the patrons of the game but there will be mechanisms to ensure that fans who cause the Nation to lose money in this manner are brought to book,” said General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo.
