Barcelona in talks with Asensio over move in the summer

Fc Barcelona have shown interest in Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio, with the Catalan club eyeing a deal for the 2017 Champions League winner in the summer.

According to reports, Real president Florentino Perez has offered Asensio a new deal yet the deal does not reach the Spaniard’s requirements.

Barcelona have begun talks with Asensio for Xavi’s new project and the experience of the 27 year old would mean a lot to Xavi and the Barca locker room.

Despite being overlooked by Carlo Ancelloti with Federico Valverde and Rodrigo being favoured for the right wing position.

The numbers may not project Asensio’s quality after making 257 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 52 goals and assisting 29 times in the process.

The trophies and successes with Real is something the world remembers the former Mallorca youngster for despite his five assists and three goals in 22 appearances for Real this season.

Asensio refused to rule out a move to Barca in December last year and emphatically stated his position after speaking to COPE.

“I haven’t thought about it. I can’t give you an answer right now. Many friends have told me about the news that Barca want to sign me,”

“I’ve received about 200 messages. There are a lot of rumours and a lot of things we don’t know. In 2023 I will be able to sign with any club because my contract end”.

Despite winning the Champions League last season, Asensio has made only three starts for Los Blancos and a move to Barcelona in the summer remains a real possibility.
