Asamoah Gyan insists Baba Iddrisu injury was turning point in Ghana’s draw with Gabon

Former Ghana star Asamoah Gyan believes that the loss of Baba Iddrisu to injury disrupted Black Stars rhythm and may have been the turning point in their 1-1 draw with Gabon on Saturday.

The Mallorca midfielder was forced off few minutes past the hour mark after sustaining what appeared to be an hamstring injury with the scores at 1-0 in favor of the West Africans.

Ghana captain Andre Ayew had put the Black Stars in front in the 18th minute, but Jim Allevinah scored an 88th-minute controversial equaliser to cancel the lead.

Speaking on SuperSport TV where he works as a pundit for the Africa Cup of Nations, Gyan noted that the four-time champions couldn’t sustain their level after Baba’s injury.

The result means Gabon need a point to reach the last 16 as they find themselves in second place with 4 points after two matches heading into their final Group C game against Morocco on Tuesday while Ghana will take on winless Comoros, needing victory to still have a chance of going through to the next round.
