Roberto Firmino has reached an agreement to join Barcelona

Roberto Firmino has agreed a deal to join Barcelona when his Liverpool contract ends in June.

It will bring to a close his glittering eight-year stay at Anfield, where he is no longer a regular starter in Jurgen Klopp’s team.

He has won the Champions League, the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Club World Cup since his £29million move from Hoffenheim in 2015.

Klopp has made it clear he would have liked to keep Firmino, 31, but the Brazilian has made up his mind to move on to a new challenge.

He has suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the next three games, but Klopp remains hopeful he can return before the end of the season.

New signings Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo, from Benfica and PSV respectively, have edged Firmino further from the starting line-up.

Fan favourite Firmino has scored 109 goals in 360 appearances for Liverpool.

He can expect an emotional farewell after the final home game of the season, against Aston Villa on May 20.
