Former Chelsea player Gianluca Vialli dies aged 58

 

Former Chelsea, Italy and Juventus forward Gianluca Vialli has passed away aged 58 after battling with cancer.

The former Chelsea manager begun battling pancreatic cancer in 2018 with his condition worsening in the latter months of 2021.

For Italy, Vialli made 59 appearances and scored 19 goals in the process.

Also, he featured in the 1986 and 1990 world cup where he finished as a bronze medalist in 1990.

Vialli begun his professional career at Cremonese and won the Serie A with Sampdoria.

He also won the Champions League and was top scorer in the 1986 Under-21 European Championship with Italy.

His best finish in the Balon dor Rankings came in 1991 and 1998 where he finished 7th.
