AFCON 2021: Commentator goes ‘crazy’ after Equatorial Guinea beat Algeria

Equatorial Guinea shocked defending Champions Algeria 1-0 in their second group game at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

It was a result many did not see coming, considering Algeria had been unbeaten in 35 previous games at international level.

The Algerians also desperately needed the win following their opening day draw against another lowly ranked team, Sierra Leone.

All those factors made for an easy game for Djamel Belmadi’s men, right? Wrong.

Estaban Obiang’s 70th minute strike was followed by brave defending from Equatorial Guinea to secure one of the biggest upsets in AFCON history.

Understandably, the result sent the streets of Malabo into absolute pandemonium but inside the Japoma Stadium in Douala, one Equato-Guinean commentator went into maniac delirium, climbing and kicking chairs and jumping around in unbridled joy.
