MATCH FACT –

MATCH : Cameroon versus Ivory coast
DATE : 16th November 2021
COMPETITION : Fifa world cup qualifiers
VENUE : Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium
KICKOFF TIME : 7:00 pm Ghana time

PREVIEW :

The Indomitable lions of Cameroon today at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium, host Ivory coast in a blockbuster clash as the decisive match-up in group D.

Ivory coast leads the group with 13 points heading into the penaltimate round of match without loosing a single game whiles Cameroon trails on the second spot with 12 points.

Given the fact that both Malawi and Mozambique had already been eliminated from the group, a win for a Cameroon will see them qualify to the next round of the qualifiers at the expense of group leaders.

However, having thumb Cameroon by 2-1 in the riverse fixture back at Abijan, anything a point secured would see Ivory coast edge pass the Indomitable lions.

With recent resurgence by Cameroon after loosing narrowly to their today’s opponent they’ve recorded back to back victory over both Malawi and Mozambique which makes them a little bit favorite most especially playing at their own backyard over the Elephant of La cote d’ivoire.

Once the envy of African football, Cameroon qualified for seven World Cups in nine attempts between 1982 and 2014, with their best performance a quarter-final finish at the 1990 tournament.

Arresting those past demons will offer some inspiration for the Cameroon side, as they look to cause an upset in the final group match of second round qualifying.
