Vice President Bawumia donates GHS500,000 to Black Stars ahead of crucial World Cup qualifier

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has generously donated GHS500,000 to the Black Stars ahead of their crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).

The match, scheduled for Monday, June 10, will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

This vital fixture follows Ghana’s impressive 2-1 comeback victory over Mali in Bamako, which propelled Otto Addo’s side to third place in Group I standings.

A win against CAR would see Ghana amass nine points from their opening four games, marking a significant improvement from their loss to Comoros last year.

In a show of support and to boost team morale, Vice President Bawumia visited the Black Stars at their hotel in Kumasi. During his visit, he made the substantial donation to motivate the players ahead of the crucial home game. Accompanying the Vice President were Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.

The Black Stars are focused on securing a win against CAR to improve their standings and strengthen their bid for a fifth World Cup qualification.

The team’s recent performance has raised hopes, and with the added support from the Vice President, the players are poised to give their best on the field.

As the Black Stars prepare for this decisive match, the support from national leaders and fans alike will be crucial in driving the team towards their World Cup dreams.
