“There is more work to be done ahead of the CAF Champions League” – Prosper Ogum

Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been crowned champions of Ghana for the 25th time as they drew with AshGold on Thursday afternoon.

The Kumasi based club has had quite an amazing season under the leadership of former WAFA coach Prosper Ogum.
Coach Ogum took over from Portuguese gaffer Mariano Barietto who was at the helm of affairs for the red army when they lost the GPL title to arch rivals Accra Hearts Of Oak.

Kotoko took on Ashgold at the Obuasi Lenclay sports stadium with the GPL title in sights. Their dreams seemed to be hitting the rock as Ashgold talisman Yaw Annor put the Miners in front on the 10th minute.
After numerous attempts to get the equaliser, the Porcupine warriors drew level through Maxwell Agyemang on the 66th minute. With 10 more points ahead of the second-placed team, Kotoko we’re crowned champions with 3 matches to go.

Speaking to the press after the game, coach Prosper Ogum had this to say;
“I think there’s more to be done, the fact that we’ve won the league doesn’t mean everything is perfect .We need to make sure that the errors we committed we don’t repeat them.”

“Because playing in the Champions League, the quality is different, I watched the finals this year and that can be compared to any European final so we have to prepare.”

Coach Ogum’s men will be representing Ghana in the CAF Champions League next season.
