Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has confirmed that it is awaiting final approval from the Presidency for the budget submitted to cover the Black Stars’ upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) submitted the budget estimates on September 18 for the October 8 away fixture against the Central African Republic and the October 12 home clash with Comoros. The Ministry forwarded the submission to the Office of the President the following day.
The total proposed budget amounts to $1.12 million, with $733,000 earmarked for the Casablanca trip and $387,000 for the Accra fixture. The allocations cover travel, accommodation, per diems, training facilities, officiating fees, match bonuses, and essential support services.
Kofi Adams emphasised that the figures comply with agreed fiscal benchmarks and that there has been no interference with player entitlements. “The players remain our priority, and we have treated them with respect and professionalism,” the Minister said.
Ghana will need four points from the two matches to advance in the qualifiers, highlighting the importance of timely budget approval for proper preparation and logistics.
