Spain beats England 1-0 to win the FIFA Women’s World Cup

Spain overcame England in Sydney to win the Women’s World Cup for the first time.

It has become history. Spain achieved the summit in Sydney on Sunday, defeating England 1-0 to win the Women’s World Cup for the first time despite all odds and a turbulent backdrop.

Olga Carmona scored the game’s lone goal early on, and England made every effort to tie it up but came up short.

The game became quite intriguing in the second half as England kept pressing but the Spanish national team’s defence was more disciplined and prevented a goal from going into their goal.

Spain was next awarded a penalty, but Jennifer Hermoso’s attempt was saved by Mary Earps of England.

The match ended 1-0 in favor of Spain but it was a well contested and competitive showpiece from both teams.

La Roja became only the second country, after Germany, to win both the men’s and women’s World Cups.
