Samuel Owusu suggests the Black Stars were unlucky against Morocco

Following a 1-0 defeat against Morocco in the Group C opener of the 2021 AFCON on Monday, midfielder Samuel Owusu has suggested that the Black Stars were unlucky to have lost the game.

The Black Stars were unable to pick up their first three points at the tournament after they fell to an 83rd minute goal by Morocco.

The defeat leaves the Stars in a difficult position as they need to win their next game against Gabon on Friday.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with FMiG, Samuel Owusu asserted that the Black Stars created dangerous chances to win the game as compared to their Moroccan opponents and were thus unlucky.

“It was a bad day. We created some chances like the ones from Joseph Paintsil and the one that Dede kicked…we were supposed to score but we couldn’t.

“But that’s football because Morocco didn’t create any clear chance (but won the game). This can happen when luck is not on your side.”

The Black Stars will now play Gabon on Friday as they search for their first win of the tournament.

The team will be without skipper Andre Ayew who suffered a head injury on Monday and has not been in training since Tuesday.
