Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves advice Chelsea to recall Lukaku

Following Romelu Lukaku’s performance for Inter Milan against FC Porto, BT sports pundits Owen Hargreaves and Rio Ferdinand think Chelsea should recall the player next season.

Chelsea signed Lukaku for £97.5 million two years ago. The striker netted eight goals in 26 premier league appearances, fell out of favour under Thomas Tuchel. In an interview with Sky Italia he criticized his manager while flirting with a potential return to Inter.

Amid tensions between the pair Lukaku was loaned  to Inter Milan. Tuchel was sacked and replaced by Graham Potter in September. With Chelsea struggling to deliver results after spending £300 million in the January transfer window, Rio Ferdinand is convinced bringing Lukaku could be the answer for Chelsea who are struggling to score goals.

“I think new manager Graham Potter should give Lukaku a chance. You have got no one in there that you obviously trust at the moment. Aubamenyang isn’t even in the European squad”

Co pundit Hargreaves also believes Lukaku has unfinished business at Chelsea,  insisting the club shouldn’t think twice about reintegration a proven goalscorer.

Lukaku’s loan return to Inter has been marred by injury this season. He has scored two goals in 14 matches. The player insist he has not been in touch with anyone from Stamford Bridge and is focused on playing for Inter for now.
