Pele dies aged 82

The greatest footballer in world cup history has unfortunately passed away after battling cancer.

The Brazilian legend remains the only player in football history to win three World Cups and remains Brazil’s record goalscorer level on goals with Neymar.

Fifa named Pele the greatest of all time in the year 2012 and in 1999, he was named the atlete of the century by the International Olympic Committee.

Pele’s daughter Kelly Nascimento announced his death on Instagram this Thursday.

Pele was battling cancer as a result of kidney and Cardiac dysfunctions according to his doctors at Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo.

Pele also had respiratory infection and was staying at the hospital over the Christmas holidays according to his family.

Argentina legend Diego Maradona passed away last year and like Pele was always associated in the Greatest of all time debates with Messi and Ronaldo.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento was his real name and the name Pele was given to him by a street kid who teased him in his teenage years.

For all football fans, Pele will be remembered as one of the greatest to ever grace the game of World football.
