Nketiah brace secures Arsenal triumph over United in five goal thriller

Arsenal extend their lead on top of the Premier League table after a spirited 3-2 victory over Man United at the Emirates with Eddie Nketiah bagging a brace.

The match begun with Arsenal taking the game to United as Martinelli came close to opening the scoring yet his shot was too wide off the post.

Marcus Rashford opened the scoring for the visitors with a thunderous strike from outside the box after 17 minutes with Bruno Fernandes providing the assist.

The hosts responded quickly with Eddie Nketsiah after a far post header off a wonderful Xhaka cross.

Both teams remained cautious going into the break with Arsenal dominating United, who sat behind looking to exploit Rashford’s pace on the break.

The second half presented fans with sheer entertainment and late drama as Arsenal took the lead through Bukayo Saka with the England youngster riffling it into the button left corner from outside the box.

Marcus Rashford came close to grabbing his brace yet was denied by Ramsdale at the bottom right corner of the goal.

United’s response was not delayed as after six minutes, Lisandro Martinez restored parity for the visitors with a well timed header.

Nevertheless, Arsenal kept pushing for a late winner until the 90th minute of the game where Eddie Nketiah tucked home a wonderful ball from Martin Odegaard off a Granit Xhaka cross.

The goal was reviewed by VAR for a possible offside yet it stood with Arsenal grabbing all three points to move five points clear on top of the table with a game in hand.
