Nadia Eke slams Nana Addo for meeting Black Stars and ignoring Black Princesses

Ghanaian triple jumper, Nadia Eke has expressed her extreme displeasure at the apparent preferential treatment given to the menโ€™s senior national team for qualifying for the 2022 World Cup.

The Black Stars players and technical team were hosted at the Jubilee House by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Wednesday, a day after they earned a 1-1 draw against Nigeria in Abuja to book a spot at the tournament in Qatar.

It was the fourth time the Stars had made it to the World Cup in five attempts after missing out on Russia 2018.

Two days prior to that, the Womenโ€™s U-20 team, the Black Princesses made it through to their sixth-straight World Cup after beating Ethiopia 2:1 in Accra to secure a 5-1 aggregate win.

Unlike the Black Stars, however, the Princesses were not treated to a special public meeting with the President and Vice President at the Jubilee House for securing a place at the World Cup.

Irritated by this, the Olympian called out the President for the preferential treatment of the Black Stars insisting that the โ€œsame energyโ€ should be kept for the Princesses, who also made the country proud.

โ€œCool and all but I need yโ€™all to keep the same energy for our U-20 Womenโ€™s team who also qualified for their World Cup,โ€ she posted on Instagram, along with a photo of Nana Addo and the Black Stars.

She added that she was disappointed with the kind of message that such an action would send to young girls in the country.

โ€œAlso what message do we send young girls about their importance when we do stuff like this. Itโ€™s 2022, do better. Disappointed but not surprised.โ€
