Mohammed Salisu Excels with Assist as Monaco Claim Dramatic Win Against RC Lens

Mohammed Salisu

Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu played a key role in Monaco’s dramatic 3-2 victory over RC Lens in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.

The 24-year-old centre-back provided a crucial assist to Folarin Balogun in the 19th minute, opening the scoring for Monaco. Takumi Minamino doubled the lead shortly after in the 30th minute.

Lens refused to go down without a fight, pulling one goal back through Elye Wahi in the 31st minute. The second half saw a tense battle, with Wesley Said equalizing for Lens in the 71st minute.

Just when a draw seemed inevitable, Takumi Minamino stepped up again, scoring his second goal of the game in the 92nd minute to secure all three points for Monaco.

This marks Salisu’s first assist for Monaco since joining the club from Southampton in the summer of 2023. He has made 8 league appearances so far, showcasing his defensive prowess and attacking contributions.

Their next fixture will be against league leaders PSG on March 1st at Stade Louis II in the 24th round of the French Ligue 1.
