MATCH REPORT: Patrick Razak’s late goal sink asante kotoko.

Hearts of Oak have silenced and claimed the bragging rights from sworn rivals, Asante Kotoko by 2-1 at the Ohene Gyan Stadium to clinch their fifth President Cup title.

The ‘Phobians’ commenced the game on a good note having had the first free kick of the game but couldn’t make it count as the resulting kick got cleared out

Frank Mbella came so close after taking on Mohammed Alhassan in the box but his shot went side netting for a goalkick.

Richmond Lamptey with an opportunity in the box after being set up in the box by Mfegue but his shot missed the post by miles. An appeal for a handball but referee waved play on. 

Fatawu Mohammed sent in a ground cross, failed to be dealt with properly by Ganiu but Isaac Mensah followed with a thunderbolt of a shot but was tipped off to a wasted corner kick.

On the 39th minute, Sulley Muntari sent in a very dangerous free kick but was piled bravely by Danlad Ibrahim for another wasted corner kick.

 Richmond Lamptey played Mbella through, took on Mohammed Alhassan but his shot was blocked. 

Hearts of Oak pounced on that for a counter break afterwards but Obeng Jnr was brought down in the box.

A big shout for a penalty but no said the centre-man. Hearts of Oak with an explosive start in the second half after finally breaking the deadlock on the 50th minute. 

Salim Adams did a great work to set up Fatawu Mohammed on the right, he sent in a teasing cross which was failed to be dealt with properly by the Kotoko defence, giving Daniel Afriyie Barnieh an opportunity to slot into the net to hand his side the lead.

The Rainbow club with a free kick on the left flanks. Sulley Muntari launched in a decent one but Obeng Jnr’s header forced Danlad to once again pull another finger tips stop to rescue the situation.  

Asante Kotoko looked like getting the equalizer after Frank Mbella plotted into the net but the referee had already flagged for offside on the 60th minute. 

Asante Kotoko finally got back on level on the 75th minute after substitute Samuel Boateng nipped on a mistake from Robert Addo but his shot ricochet the body of Mohammed Alhassan to get into the net.

 Patrick Razak scored on the 88th minute after making a great serging run to go round goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim to plot into the net to restore Hearts of Oak’s lead.

 It ended 2-1 for the Phonians after full time to clinch their fifth President Cup trophy
