Maritzburg deny Germany links for the talented youngster

Maritzburg United have played down claims that Lungelo Bhengu is set to undergo trials in Germany come January.

Bhengu, a former Kaizer Chiefs development player, was promoted to the Maritzburg senior team in January from their DSTV Diski Challenge tea

Before joining the KwaZulu- Natal based club, the 19 – year- old had a trial at fellow top flight club Bloemfontein Celtic.

“SPVGG Untehaching invited former Kaizer Chiefs (player), currently playing for Maritzburg United he will attend assessment next year January. The team from Germany is waiting for Maritzburg United. Vodia Players Management is confirming. He played Nedbank against Cape Town All Stars.” Stated the player’s representative Gerald Baloyi.

When asked what does that mean to the player’s future with the DStv Premiership club, Baloyi replied, “His future with Maritzburg United is bright, three years and two years option.”

However, the Team of Choice’s football and operations manager Quinton Jetoo has since denied those claims.

“(Laughs) No no no, there’s nothing like that. I don’t understand to be honest, but anyway there’s nothing like that. There’s absolutely nothing like that.”
