Liverpool’s deadline day move for Fabio Carvalho collapses

Liverpool’s hopes of securing a January deal for Fulham starlet Fabio Carvalho have broken down at the eleventh hour.

The Reds agreed a deal to sign the youngster from the Cottagers with just over an hour of Monday’s transfer deadline remaining, with paperwork and a medical needed to be completed.

However, they were not able to thrash out a deal in time and the move has fallen through.

Liverpool were hoping to come to an arrangement with Fulham this window to avoid paying a tribunal fee when Carvalho’s contract expires at the end of the season.

They still have plenty of time to this sort of deal before the summer, though Liverpool have not been able to officially sign him this window.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sprung into life late on in January, beating Tottenham to the signing of Porto winger Luis Diaz before pressing ahead with a move for Carvalho.

But they have not been able to wrap up a deal for the latter target.
