Liverpool Owners in Talks to Buy French Football Club, Bordeaux

Fenway Sports Group (FSG), owners of Liverpool FC, are in discussions to acquire struggling French club Bordeaux.

The club faces potential relegation to the third-tier National 1 after failing to meet financial guarantees for the upcoming season, as stipulated by the French football financial watchdog, DNCG.

Bordeaux has appealed the decision and now has a limited timeframe to finalize a sale that could secure their place in Ligue 2 for the next season.

FSG and Bordeaux presented their takeover proposal during a recent meeting with the DNCG, marking the beginning stages of what could lead to a significant ownership transition for the six-time French champions.

“Fenway Sports Group has expressed interest in the potential acquisition of French football club Girondins de Bordeaux and is in the early stages of dialogue and engagement,” said FSG.
