‘Legend’ André Ayew nets historic 10th AFCON goal against Gabon

Black Stars Skipper Andre Ayew made a claim for legendary status after netting his 10th goal at the AFCON against Gabon on Friday evening.

Ayew has represented Ghana in the country’s last 6 appearances at the AFCON and needed a goal in the Cameroon edition to take his tally to 10.

The Qatar based player had previously netted in the 2010, 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2019 finals and even won the golden boot in the 2015 finals with 3 goals.

The player himself was a doubt for the fixture having suffered a head injury in the first game against Morocco but was deemed fit to start the game.

Milovan’s decision to start the player paid off as he netted in the first quarter of the game to give Ghana the lead.

Ayew also joined the likes of Samuel Eto’o and Asamoah Gyan as players to have netted in 6 consecutive AFCON finals.
