Kumasi Asante Kotoko suspend Joseph Amoako over misconduct on social media

Asante Kotoko have handed an indefinite suspension to Joseph Amoako for gross misconduct on social media.

Amoako, who recently returned from a loan spell at relegated Swedish Allsvenskan club Helsingborgs IF, has been suspended from the club’s activities over a leaked audio on the micro-blogging platforms.

The misconduct of the 20-year-old winger has attracted him an indefinite suspension from the club, according to a statement released on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

The club’s official statement reads “Joseph Amoako, 20, has been suspended indefinitely pending a final determination through the club’s disciplinary procedures.”

Amoako was detained in Swedish Police custody in November 2022 for court trial after being charged of engaging in sexual affairs with a minor.

Helsingborgs IF cancelled his loan deal due to the rape allegations before the contract expired in January per the agreement with his parent club, Asante Kotoko.
