Kotoko denied pass to MTN FA Cup next stage

Kumasi Asante Kotoko was denied pass to the next stage of 2019/2020 MTN FA Cup due to their 1-2 loss to Asokwa Deportivo.

In a game that was touted as a done deal for Asante Kotoko due to their experience in the tournament, was redefined after Asorkwa Deportivo matched them boot for boot on the field of play exuding the “Obia ny3 obia” slogan of the tournament.

In the first half, Asante Kotoko kept knocking on the doors of goals as they were a threat upfront but couldn’t utilize most of their chances.

The porcupine warriors were lucky in the 33rd minute to register the first goal of the game through a carpet cross from Imoro Ibrahim to Richard Athur after it was missed by William Opoku Mensah.

Asante Kotoko couldn’t hold on to the lead till the end of the first half as Asokwa Deportivo got the equalizer in additional time of the first half.

Asokwa Deportivo continued their dominance till they got their second goal in the 68th minute putting them in the lead which they held on to till the end of the game.

Asante Kotoko who were aiming for the double this season, couldn’t make it happen after ending their run in the 2019/2020 MTN FA Cup loosing to Asokwa Deportivo by 1-2.
