Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew snatched a dramatic victory for the Black Stars in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali on Thursday. Coming off the bench in the 84th minute, Ayew’s late heroics secured a crucial three points for Ghana.

Mali took the lead through Kamory Doumbia in the 45th minute, but Ghana refused to surrender. Ernest Nuamah restored parity for the Black Stars in the 58th minute. With the game seemingly destined for a draw, Ayew emerged as the savior. In the dying moments of the match, the 94th minute to be precise, Jordan Ayew struck the winner to send the Ghanaian fans into a frenzy.

This victory propels Ghana to second place in Group I with six points.   The Black Stars will now turn their attention to their next World Cup qualifier, where they will host the Central African Republic on June 10th at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

With the win over Mali boosting their confidence, Ghana will be looking to continue their climb up the group standings and secure a spot in the next round of the qualifiers.
