Ghanaian-born striker Kelvin Yeboah has revealed why he decided to choose the Italian U-21 side ahead of the senior men’s national team of Ghana the Black Stars.
The in form striker was handed a call up by the Italian U-21 side but before that he had been called up to play for the country of his birth Ghana.
He says that earning a call-up to the U21 side of Italy is a dream come true as a young footballer and feels more Italian than Ghanaian as he has spent 17 years living in Italy with his parents.
In an interview with Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX, the 21-year-old revealed he feels Italian and that made the decision easier for him.
“I arrived in Italy when I was two, I grew up in Italy and I feel Italian. I started playing in the youth sectors of Novara and Gozzano, then I went to London, to West Ham,” Yeboah said as quoted by Calcionews24
“From there I decided to move to Austria, to start from the Austrian Serie B to go up more and more. Now the Genoa challenge, challenging and fascinating. We need the right energy,”
Yeboah returned to Italy to join Italian Serie A side Genoa after an explosive campaign in Austria with Sturm Graz in the just ended winter transfer window.
He is the nephew of the legendary former Ghana striker Anthony Yeboah.
