Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah explains the closure of Baba Yara sports stadium

The Minister of Youth and sports Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has given reason on why the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will be temporarily closed down. The honorable minister said the edifice will be closed down for renovation ahead the 63rd independence day celebration and also for the Stadium meet international standard.

In his statement, he said “I promised to renovate all the stadiums the NPP government built during 2008 and am keeping my word. We started with the Accra Sports stadium and we are now on the Baba Yara Sports stadium.”

Hon Kwame Asiamah on where Kumasi Asante Kotoko will be playing the rest of their home games, said “A venue has been provided and it’s 70% complete which I know they will love it.”

The stadium that is used by Kumasi Asante and King Faisal for their Ghana Premier league games was closed down on Monday 17th February 2020 due to it’s deteriorating form that has called for the need for renovation ahead of the 63rd independence day celebration.
