Gvardiol header earns RB Leipzig draw against Manchester City

Croat Josko Gvardiol rose high with a powerful header to stop Manchester City from winning the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie.

Riyad Mahrez on his birthday strucked the opener midway through the first half as he beautiful made light work of a pass from IIkay Gundogan.

Back from recess, RB Leipzig took control of the game and twice went close to equalising however Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson denied Henrich. The host were finally rewarded as Gvardiol headed in from a short corner.

Moments later  Gundogan was denied by goalkeeper Janis Blaswich. Leipzig held firm to secure a deserved draw.

The second leg comes off on 14th March 2023 at the Etihad Stadium.
