GOC To Fork Out €29,000 For Errea Kit Ahead of Olympic Games – Ben Nunoo Mensah

Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, President of the Ghana Olympic Committee has disclosed that one of the major hinderance facing the committee is kitting of our athletes for the games which is said to begin in the next 88days.

During an interview with Joy Fm’s Nathaniel Ato, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah said their outfit is currently in a discussion with kit manufacturer’s Errea who have already sent them designs and total cost for a contingent size of 50 and have also been asked to pay 30% of the total cost which is €29,000.

He said,

“The other cost that could be a major thing is our kitting”

“We are currently in discussion with Errea, they have just sent as the designs and total cost and we’ve been lucky, they are asking us to pay just about 30% of what would have cost us to have those Kits”

“What they sent to us is about €29,000 for a contingent size of 50”

Speaking about how they will be able to rise such amount to purchase these kits, he emphasized that, they are also in discussion with Ashfoam who is one of their sponsors and they have agreed to give them $20,000 and they are linking them up with the kit manufacturer’s so they will have a discussion and if that sponsorship is not enough to pay for it, they are also consulting other sponsors such as Trillion,Toyota and JK Industries so hopefully they could get them to pick up the cost of their kits.

“If the Ashfoam sponsorship is not enough to pay for that, we are also in discussions with Trillion and then Toyota as well as JK Industries so hopefully we could get sponsors to pick up the cost of our kits”

Ghana currently have six(6) athletes who have qualified with three(3) from track and field and three (3) boxers so far and also have chances of qualifying one more boxer, a weightlifter,a swimmer as well as the volleyball team and fencing team along side the judo team by the end of May.
