Ghanian Striker Raphael Dwamena joins Swiss club BSC Old Boys

Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena has completed his transfer Swiss fifth-tier club BSC Old Boys after parting ways with Austrian club Blau Weiss Linz.

Dwamena has signed a one-year contract in an attempt to revitalize his career, which has suffered in recent years as a result of a heart condition.

Last October, the 26-year-old collapsed during a cup game in Austria. His defibrillator was also removed.

“God has always meant well with me,” said the devout Dwamena in an OÖN interview in December.

Due to his heart condition, Dwamena has been unable to pursue a more prominent football career. Before signing the player, Linz had him thoroughly checked at AKH Linz, one of Europe’s best heart treatment facilities.

He was once on the verge of a million-dollar move to Premier League club Brighton. The heart condition, however, was discovered during the medical examination.

Dwamena was able to secure a transfer to UD Levante for 6 million euros via FC Zurich, but he struggled in Spain.
