Ghana’s Iddrisu Baba Makes Permanent Move to UD Almeria

Ghanaian midfielder Iddrisu Baba has secured a permanent transfer to UD Almeria from RCD Mallorca.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder inked a three-year contract after a fruitful loan spell with the Spanish club last season.

Baba impressed during his loan stint at Almeria, making 26 appearances across all competitions. This strong performance convinced Almeria to activate the purchase option in his loan deal.

Iddrisu Baba is a product of RCD Mallorca’s youth academy, having spent five seasons with the senior team between 2018 and 2023. He contributed a goal and two assists during his time there, making a total of 150 appearances. He also had a loan spell with another Spanish club, Barakaldo C.F.

While Almeria suffered relegation from La Liga last season, Baba is optimistic about the team’s chances in the upcoming La Liga 2 campaign. He aims to play a key role in securing their promotion back to Spain’s top flight. Their season kicks off on August 25th against Tenerife.

On the international stage, Baba debuted for Ghana in a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa in 2019. He has since accumulated 25 caps for the Black Stars.
