Jalal Abdulai Bags Brace to Fire Elfsborg to Victory

Ghanaian forward Jalal Abdulai stole the show with a brace as IF Elfsborg secured a vital 3-1 victory over Mjällby in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

The 19-year-old striker wasted no time, putting Elfsborg on the board within the first minute after being set up by compatriot Terry Yegbe.

Mjällby responded through Elliot Stroud in the 27th minute, but Jalal Abdulai wasn’t done yet. The former inter Allies palyer grabbed his second goal just before halftime to restore Elfsborg’s lead (2-1). Sebastian Holmén added another goal in the 51st minute to seal the victory for Elfsborg.

Abdulai’s impressive performance continues a prolific run. He now boasts 6 goals in only 16 appearances across all competitions for Elfsborg in 2024.

Yegbe and Baidoo Feature for Elfsborg

Ghanaian defender Terry Yegbe played the entire match for Elfsborg, providing a crucial assist for Abdulai’s opener. Midfielder Michael Baidoo also saw some playing time for the victors.

Elfsborg Eye Europa League Success

With this win, Elfsborg solidify their position in 4th place on the Allsvenskan table with 25 points after 16 matches. Their focus now shifts to the Europa League, where they face Moldovan side FC Sheriff Tiraspol in the first leg of the second round qualifiers on July 23.
