Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey Shines as Brighton Crush Crystal Palace

Tariq Lamptey

Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey shone for Brighton & Hove Albion, contributing an assist in their decisive 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the English Premier League.

The 23-year-old, who missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) due to injury, played a key role in solidifying Brighton’s lead with his pinpoint assist in the 33rd minute. Lewis Dunk had already opened the scoring for Brighton early on, followed by Facundo Buonanotte’s strike shortly after Lamptey’s assist.

This win adds another highlight to Lamptey’s impressive season, boosting his assist tally to four in just 12 appearances across all competitions. Meanwhile, Ghanaian teammates Jeffrey Schlupp and Jordan Ayew couldn’t help Palace avoid the defeat.

Brighton currently sit 7th with 35 points after 23 matches, and face Tottenham next in the Premier League match on February 10th.
