GHALCA BOSS CUDJOE FIANOO JUSTIFIES REASON FOR OPENING FREE GATES

GHALCA president Cudjoe Fianoo clears the air on decision to open free gates during the president Cup final on 5th March 2023 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Accra Hearts of Oak beat Kumasi Asante Kotoko courtesy Konadu Yiadom’s solitary strike. Both teams surprisingly observed their pre-match warm up ritual two times before kick. Technically they were suppose to have one warm up ritual but for low turn out of fans and the subsequent opening of free gates they needed to go against the status quo.

President of GHALCA Cudjoe Fianoo in an interview with Onua tv indicated opening free gates was necessary due to the gap in attendance.

“Spectatoring is an issue already. In honoring the President we thought it wise to open free gates due to poor attendance. Days before the finals, I received assurance from the Electronic ticketing officials attendance would be encouraging. The story was however different on Saturday”

Despite challenges emanating from the use of Electronic ticketing Mr. Fianoo believe the technology is good but a lot of education must be done for it thrive in our football ecosystem.
