GFA Reveals New Strategy To Stop Betting On League Matches

The communication director of the Ghana Football Association Henry Asante Twum has revealed new plans laid down to prevent match-fixing.

According to him, the FA will take off all topflight matches from any Betting company’s Site to stop match-fixing in the league.

‘We will take all Ghana Premier League matches off every betting site.

”Any betting company who goes contrary to our rules without coming to meet the FA for approval will be sued.

Ashgold SC and Inter Allies were fished out in a match bet fixing scandal last season which resulted in both clubs suffering huge punishment as they were demoted to Division 2 and the players involved including administrators banned with hefty fines accordingly.

The GFA has secured a headline sponsor with Betpawa for the topflight league worth $6m for three years.

The 2022/23 Ghana Premier league will start on September 9.
