GFA EXCO MEMBER ODURO SARFO FIRE STEPHEN APPIAH: “GO TO SCHOOL IF YOU WANT TO LEAD FOOTBALL”

Nana Oduro Sarfo, an Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has advised former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah to pursue formal education if he desires a leadership position in the country’s football administration.

Sarfo believes that being a football legend is not enough to hold a leadership role and that former footballers should obtain the necessary certificates to make them qualified candidates for such positions.

He cited the example of Samuel Eto’o, who had to obtain academic qualifications and join affiliated associations before contesting and eventually becoming the FA president for Cameroon.

Sarfo emphasized that if Appiah wants to play a significant role or lead the GFA, he needs to acquire better academic knowledge and certificates.

“Samuel Eto’o is the FA president for Cameroon. He needed to go to school so he could better himself academically. He joined associations affiliated with their FA before making plans to contest,” Sarfo said.

“If Stephen Appiah wants to play a key role or wants to lead the GFA, he needs to have better academic knowledge and certificates.”

These comments come in response to Appiah’s recent statement that implied a deliberate attempt to prevent former players from occupying administrative roles in Ghanaian football.
