GFA Changes Venue For RTU As King Faisal Match Reschedule, See Why

Ghana Football Association (GFA) has changed the home venue of RTU following their ban imposed by the football governing body.

In a release the GFA said:

‘Real Tamale United will play their Ghana Premier League (GPL) Matchweek 23 home game against Berekum Chelsea on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

This is as a result of the temporary ban on the Club from playing their home matches at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale pending the decision of the GFA Disciplinary Committee on their misconduct case.’

In effect, King Faisal FC’s outstanding Matchday 21 game against Berekum Chelsea has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

RTU Ban follows the violent incident witnessed at the stadium on Sunday where fans of RTU attacked and mercilessly beat the match officials that handled the team’s 1-1 draw against Aduana Stars.

“The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has banned the Tamale Stadium indefinitely with immediate effect.

“This decision was taken following assaults on the Match Officials by the home supporters in the Ghana Premier League match between Real Tamale United FC and Aduana FC on Sunday, March 20, 2022,” part of a communique from the GFA said on Monday evening.
