GFA approves Bekwai Heroes FC’s name change to Ashgold FC

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially granted approval for the rebranding of Division One League side Bekwai Heroes FC to Ashgold FC, following a formal request from the club’s management.
The decision follows the successful completion of all legal and administrative procedures, including the submission of official documentation confirming the re-registration of the club as Ashgold Football Club Limited.

In a letter to the club, the GFA stated:

“We acknowledge receipt of your request to change the name of BEKWAI HEROES FOOTBALL CLUB LTD to ASHGOLD FOOTBALL CLUB, supported by a board resolution.
We have also received the necessary incorporation documents from the Registrar General’s Department, under Registration Number CS008490121 and TIN C0058494634. The GFA confirms that the name change complies with the Companies Act, 1963 (Act 179).”
After reviewing the submission and confirming full compliance, the GFA approved the name change with immediate effect.

However, the GFA emphasized that all existing rights, obligations, and liabilities of Bekwai Heroes FC remain in force under the new identity. This includes any outstanding debts, fines, player registration licenses, and historical records, which will now carry over to Ashgold FC.
The move marks a significant transformation for the club as it adopts the legacy and identity of the once-renowned Ashanti Gold SC. The rebrand is seen as a major step toward revitalizing the club’s image and positioning it for greater impact in the Division One League.
