Ghanaian defender Caleb Amankwah found the net for Ethiopia Nigd Bank FC as they thrashed Hambericho Durame 5-1 in the Ethiopian Premier League on Thursday.

The 28-old defender restored Nigd Bank’s lead to 2-1 after Gidey Addis cancelled out Hambericho Durame’s opening goal by Admasu Alaza.

Gidey Addis then netted his second goal of the night, with Peter Simon and Yohanis David adding further goals to secure the emphatic victory for Ethiopia Nigd Bank FC.

The win sees Nigd Bank maintain their position at the top of the table with 40 points after 20 matches. They face Hawassa in their next league match on  April 11.

Taking to Facebook after the match, Amankwah expressed his gratitude, stating: “Another Goal in the season. Glory be to God.”

The former Hearts of Oak defender joined Ethiopia Nigd Bank FC in 2023 and has quickly become a key player. With 2 goals in 11 league appearances this season, Caleb Amankwah is proving to be a valuable asset for the title contenders.
