FORMER GHANA CAPTAIN JOHN MENSAH TURNS 39 TODAY.

The “Rock of Gibraltar” as he’s popularly known, Ghana’s former defender and captain celebrates his 39th birthday.

Born on 29th November, John Mensah made his Black Stars debut against Algeria in 2001 and went on to amass 86 caps for the national team, scoring three times in the process.

John Mensah has featured in two world cups in Germany 2006 and South Africa 2010. As captain in 2010, he was a reason for Ghana’s success in reaching the quarter finals of the world cup, becoming a rock at the heart of defence.

In club football, John Mensah has featured for a number of European clubs which includes Genoa, Chievo Verona, Olympic Lyon, Rennes, Sunderland and AFC united.
