George Afriyie has called on Ghanaians to support Ajax star Mohammed Kudus in his pursuit to become a great player.

DOHA, QATAR – NOVEMBER 28: Kudus

Kudus, who has already netted 20 goals this season including a brace for the Black Stars in Ghana’s solitary victory at the 2022 World Cup, has been touted as Ghana’s next big star by many, including Afriyie.

However, the former Ghana Football Association vice president stressed that Kudus will only reach his full potential if Ghanaians continue to stand by him, even during his setbacks.

Firstly he needs our prayers and support. Even at a point where he fails us, let us continue to support him because he is riding on a typical Ghanaian history coming out with one or two players at a particular time.

“Having seen the likes of Abedi Pele[Ayew], Michael Essien, Asamoah Gyan, and Sulley Muntari, I think that it’s gotten to the turn of Mohammed Kudus. He has started so well and is doing so well.

“He needs our prayers and support. From what he is doing, he is going to emerge just as his predecessors have been able to do. I have no doubt that he will be able to deliver and make Ghana proud and lift the flag of Ghana very very high,” Afriyie said on 3FM on Sports Ultras.
