Former GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi charged with fraud

The Accra High Court on Wednesday March 4 declared that Kwesi Nyantakyi and member of the GFA’s Executive Committee have been hit with three charges and two charges respectively, with the latter being faced with conspiracy to commit fraud and fraud.

Victoria Asiedua who is the Principal State Attorney revealed that the two individuals in their deceitful claims to attract more sponsors for the Ghana Premier league committed a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou)on behalf of a company that doesn’t even exist.

The court affirmed that the two by promising to grant big contracts to the so-called investors requested an amount of $12million be paid to them.

This money prosecution says Mr.Nyantakyi said will be distributed as follows; $5 million for the President, $ 3million for the Vice President,$ 2 million for the for the Roads and Highway’s Minister $1million for his deputy with the rest reserved for Mr.Nyantakyi and Mr.Alhassan.

In 2018 Mr.Nyantakyi was caught in a documentary by Anas Aremeyaw Anas’s Tiger Eye P1 trying to use the President’s name to gain favours. The government has been anxious to punish the main subject of the investigation after the release of the documentary.

The charges against Mr.Nyantakyi are conspiracy to commit fraud, fraud and corruption by a public officer.

The ex GFA President was granted bail in the sum of $1 million with three sureties,one to be justified,same conditions apply to Mr.Alhassan .
The two individuals have been asked to appear at the Police CID every Friday. The case has been adjourned to March 25 for case management conference.
