“FIRE LADY” WINS SPORTS PRESENTER OF THE YEAR AWARD

Astute sports journalist, Mavis Amanor, also known as “Fire Lady” was adjudged Best Sports Presenter of the year at the 2021 Ghana Media and Entrepreneurship Awards (GMAEA) held on Saturday, October 23, 2021.

Mavis, over a decade ago, began her journey as a sports journalist with Multimedia Group Limited as an intern.She currently works permanently for the company, inking her name as one of the most experienced sports journalists in Ghana.

After a decade of showing passion, dexterity and hardwork, Fire Lady refers to this award as her first major award. She put her delight in words:

“I feel honoured, and grateful to Almighty God for his mercies and favour. This award means a lot to me, that at least, my hardwork of over a decade, in this Male-dominated field has been recognized.”

“Many thanks to Multimedia Group Limited, my colleagues, my lovely, prayerful and supportive husband who happens to be my manager and everyone who has made this possible. This is a very huge challenge for me to strive and work harder.”

On Asempa FM, Mavis is host of Ladies Time and Executive Producer of the Ultimate Sports morning show. She also co-presents SPORTS PAGE 1 on Adom FM and serves as a sports news anchor on Adom TV news.

Mavis is the first and only female currently serving on the Club Licensing Board Committee of the Ghana Football Association. She is also a member of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) and has played other key roles in the Ghanaian sporting industry including being a part of the marketing committee of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

Her influence in the industry also earned her two Women In Sports Association (WISA) recognition awards. She also had two nominations at the 2020 Ghana Outstanding Women Awards (GOWA) – Outstanding Women Empowerment TV/Radio Show of the year and Outstanding Woman Sports Journalist of the year nominations
